Andrew Park, Ganger

After studying at Appleby Grammer School, I went to work on a couple of farms for around nine years before deciding on a career change, and I applied for a job at Waitings.Andrew Park 2

I decided to apply for a role at Waitings to secure a better future for myself and was attracted by the training and opportunities a job at Waitings would offer me. I initially started as a tractor driver and general operative. In September 2015 I was promoted to a ganger, which enables me to drive various plant and machinery and organise the team on the ground. I enjoy all the variety in my job and the wide assortment of plant I can drive, alongside the challenges of each different project.

Waitings have provided me with lots of training including health and safety courses and many Plant Categories ‘CPCS’ courses which are essential for my role. The training means plenty of opportunities for me, and is one of the best aspects about working for Waitings. The investment they place in their staff allows me to start climbing the career ladder – who knows where it will lead.
